Milestones

Hard to believe – in about 3 weeks we will head north to Virginia on the boat -
have been busy working on the wood work & mechanicals – great weather in Florida,
passed 800 miles on the bike for the winter season and 300 hours volunteering at
Florida Oceanographic where Sandra & I were volunteers of the month-

Sea-Worthy

Volunteer Spotlight: Joe & Sandra Urban

You may have spotted two bicyclists riding over the Stuart Causeway dressed in the recognizable blue Florida Oceanographic shirt marked with the capital letters "VOLUNTEER" across the back.  Joe and Sandra Urban are a living and breathing example of environmental stewardship, biking to the Coastal Center to volunteer since 2009.
Sandra signed up to volunteer and brought Joe with her to their first orientation.  The pair have worked as exhibit guides and program presenters ever since, with Sandra learning all about Florida's Sea Turtles to tackle the newest program, and Joe presenting the Game Fish Lagoon Feeding program.
The Urbans enjoy living and learning about Florida and the marine life around us.  Sandra and Joe inspire each other to learn more about the environment, and have fun competing with one another to see who has learned the most!
Joe and Sandra serve as an inspiration to the staff and other volunteers at Florida Oceanographic as well.  Their commitment to environmental education is evident, and their actions are sure to inspire future generations of environmental stewards!
