It has been almost 18 months since we returned from our last trip south. Punches, our Senator 35 trawler was sold in May of 2004. We spend the summer and fall looking for another trawler. Just at the end of the 2004 season I found what I was looking for. A 1985 Monk 36 trawler with a Cummins 330 HP engine installed in 2000. The boat was in excellent condition, but was set-up for going from marina to marina, not long-distance cruising. Since buying the boat in November of 2004, I have:
Installed a new windlass, anchor and 175 feet of anchor chain
Installed an electric toilet and Lectrasan treatement system
Installed radar and chartplotter
Installed autopilot control for lower steering station
Replaced three thru-hulls
Repacked rudder and shaft logs
Installed inverter and battery charger
Replaced all batteries
Rebuilt alternator and added Balmar regulator
Rebuilt hydraulic hoses to autopilot

We are finishing the final touches to get ready to head south again at the end of October 2005.
